The teen was hit at Glenoaks Road and Verdugo Boulevard (map) after chasing a ball into the street, according to Glendale Police Department Sgt. Peter Presnal.

The boy was transported to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Presnal said.

The driver was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence, Presnal said.

The incident was called in at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Halloween, when authorities warn drivers to be on the watch for children in the streets.
