Paramount Standoff Ends With Deputy-Involved Shooting

A police standoff came to an end amid a hail of gunfire Thursday morning in Paramount.

A man reportedly flashed a weapon at a sheriff’s deputy late Friday before leading authorities on a chase.

The pursuit ended about 3:03 a.m., when the man crashed into a tree in the 7400 block of Jackson Street and refused to exit his vehicle, police said.

The man was wounded in a deputy-involved shooting, according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. He was taken to a hospital in unknown condition. No deputies were injured.

“A handgun belonging to the suspect was recovered at the scene,” according to the statement.
