The incident happened in the Sepulveda Boulevard Tunnel near Los Angeles International Airport at about 5 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department Pacific Division.

A white pickup truck struck the victim, who was working as a contract employee on a Caltrans road project, police said.

The worker suffered multiple injuries, including broken bones and was rushed to the hospital in stable condition, according to police.

The driver of the pickup was taken into custody at the scene, police said. He was identified by LAPD Media Relations Section as Devin Scott Enderle, 30. He was being held on $100,00 bail.

The 105 Freeway exit to the tunnel and northbound Sepulveda Boulevard were blocked for several hours, snarling area traffic.
