Clerk Shot, Killed During Robbery at Check Cashing Store

Investigators were searching Friday for two men who shot and killed a clerk during a robbery at a check cashing business in Chino.

The shooting took place around 1:24 p.m. at the Check ‘n Go located at in the 12000 block on Central Avenue.

Two men walked into the location, shot the clerk then robbed the business before fleeing in a dark colored Nissan Altima, according to a news release from the city of Chino.

One of the men was described as Hispanic, approximately 20 years of age, medium build, wearing a Boston Red Sox baseball cap, light grey hooded zip-up sweatshirt, black pants and black shoes.

The second man was described as possibly Hispanic or African American, approximately 30 years of age, stocky build, wearing a dark colored baseball cap, dark hooded zip-up sweatshirt and dark colored pants.

Both men are considered armed and dangerous.

A memorial fund has been established by the family of Vanessa Martinez, the 24 year old victim in the Check n Go murder-robbery.  Donations can be made at any Wells Fargo location in care of the “Vanessa Martinez Memorial Account.”
