A man and a little boy were hospitalized in stable condition Tuesday after they were injured in an apparent gang-related shooting in Long Beach, authorities said.
The shooting happened just before 7 p.m. Monday near Orange Avenue and East 70th Street (map), according to Long Beach Fire Captain Jim Arviz.
The man, said to be in his 20s, was walking with his bike when someone from a passing car opened fire, police said.
A 5-year-old boy, who was playing nearby, was also wounded.
Police said one or possibly more gunmen got away in a light colored vehicle.
Investigators suspect the incident was gang-related, even though the area is not known for gang activity.
Anyone with information was urged to contact Long Beach Police at 562-570-7260.
