Driver Arrested for Alleged DUI After Vehicle Crashes Into Perris Restaurant

A suspected drunk driver was arrested Sunday after he lost control of his SUV and smashed into a restaurant in Perris, injuring three people, authorities said.

Mario Balverde, 19, of Romoland, was attempting to leave the parking lot of a business in the 2900 block of North Perris Boulevard at 3:19 p.m. when the incident occurred, according to a news release issued by the Perris Police Department.

Officers responded after an initial caller’s report of an emergency and a car inside a building, the news release said.

Two employees and one pedestrian, all adults, were transported to a hospital with injuries ranging from serious to a complaint of pain, according to authorities. One victim was in critical but stable condition, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said.

Balverde was arrested and booked for alleged felony DUI resulting in injuries, police said.
