South Gate Police Fatally Shoot Man; Sheriff’s Department Investigating

A man was shot and killed by police responding to a domestic dispute in South Gate late Saturday, according to authorities.


The incident happened in the 9200 block of San Luis Avenue, South Gate, Nov. 23, 2013.

The shooting occurred in the 9200 block of San Luis Avenue shortly after 10 p.m., according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, which is investigating the incident.

South Gate police responded to a 911 call that a man and woman were fighting, according to the sheriff’s statement. Officers said when they arrived at the scene, the man was uncooperative and ran away.

The man was “continually grasping at his waistband area” while running, according to the sheriff’s statement.
