A pilot instructor and student were on the plane when it landed at 3:15 p.m. in the center divider of the Foothill Transportation Corridor at Oso Parkway, the California Highway Patrol said. No one was injured, the CHP said.

The $150,000-plane was reportedly headed to John Wayne Airport before the emergency landing. It appeared to be intact after touching down.

Two mechanics were seen removing the plane’s wings so that it could be removed from the toll road.

No road closures were reported.

An investigation into the incident was underway, authorities said.

Correction: A previous version of this article erroneously reported that the plane landed in Mission Viejo.
