Woman Dies After Being Shot in Long Beach

A woman died after being shot Tuesday night in Long Beach, authorities said.

Officers responded to the 3500 block of Monica Avenue about 10:05 p.m. after receiving information regarding a shooting, according to Nancy Pratt, spokeswoman for the Long Beach Police Department.

When the officers arrived they found a female victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene, Pratt said.

News video showed a man being detained by police at the scene.

Police were notified when a second possible victim, a man with non-life-threatening injuries, arrived at a local hospital. The relationship between the man and the woman was not immediately clear.

No other details were immediately available. An investigation was underway.
