From Dec. 21 through Dec. 25, babies born at Miller Children’s Hospital will be placed in red Christmas stockings, according to the hospital.

Families can take the babies home in the soft, furry stockings.

Hospital officials said in a press release that it was their “special way” of welcoming babies born during the holiday season.

The tradition dated back more than 50 years, the press release said.
