Ted DiNunzio, who turns 100 on Dec. 30, has greeted customers at the Santa Anita Fashion Park store for the past 14 years.

But on Friday, hundreds of customers showed up to greet DiNunzio and celebrate his upcoming birthday.

“Ted has become a favorite of both customers and employees,” Nordstrom spokesman John Bailey said.

“Faith and positive attitude, always smile and be happy, that’s the secret,” DiNunzio said during the festivities.

“I’m never serious, I always say hello to everybody, even when I’m out in the street.”

Nearly 1,000 cupcakes had been ordered for the party, some of which were to be used to spell out the number 100, Bailey said.

DiNunzio has worked at the store on Fridays and Saturdays since the age of 86.

“Ted inspires others, he creates an environment that’s welcoming and fun,” said Marcille Hughes, store manager, in a news release. “He has a belief that you need to treat people with kindness and smile. It works for him and works for all of us around him. He truly brightens everyone’s day.”
