Water Main Break in Echo Park Causes Traffic Delays

A water main break in Echo Park caused traffic delays in the area Friday evening, aerial video showed.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded just before the 5 p.m. after receiving reports of street flooding, fire officials said.

The Los Angeles Department of  Water and Power was also on the scene, according to LADWP’s Kim Hughes.

The main break occurred at the intersection of Glendale Boulevard and Effie Street.

Glendale Boulevard appeared to be shut down in both directions, Sky5 video from the scene showed.

The California Highway Patrol has confirmed it was called out to the Glendale off ramp of the 2 freeway to assist with traffic around 5:30 p.m.

According to Hughes, 25 customers were affected by the main break.

There was no estimate of when service for the affected customers would be restored.
