The fire began about 7:20 a.m. in the 13500 block of Via Del Palma Avenue, according to Supervisor Bernard Peters of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Firefighters put out the blaze in just minutes, Peters said.

The two victims, whose identities were not immediately released, were found in a back bedroom above a garage, L.A. County Fire Inspector Keith Mora said.

Hilda Ortiz, who lives in a front house on the property, described the victims as Hispanic men in their early 30’s. The men were in a relationship according to Ortiz.

The two men were arguing in the driveway about 7 a.m., according to Ortiz. Minutes later, Ortiz called 911 because the house had caught on fire.

“At this point we can’t say whether there’s foul play or not,” Mora said.

The Whittier Police Department and arson investigators were trying to determine the cause of the blaze.
