The crash occurred at a health food store near the corner of Broadway and West 85th Street (map) around 12:15 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Video of the scene showed skid marks on the road, a damaged street sign and a mangled metal gate on the front of the store.

When officers arrived, they found a 1999 Lexus but the driver was long gone, according to police.

The business, which was closed at the time of the crash, sustained heavy damage.

Police had the car towed to an impound lot to process it for evidence.
