A 68-year-old man arrested for allegedly killing his daughter-in-law in Arcadia died of an apparent suicide in jail, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department announced Friday.
Li Zhu had been arrested on Tuesday in the stabbing death of 41-year-old Xiaolin Li, authorities said.
The victim was discovered shortly before 8:30 a.m. at an apartment complex in the 900 block of Arcadia Avenue (map), according to a news release from Arcadia police Chief Robert T. Guthrie.
Li and Zhu lived together, along with other relatives, according to Arcadia police.
Zhu had been booked into the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in downtown L.A., where detectives responded Thursday and learned that Zhu apparently committed suicide, sheriff’s officials said.
