Toddler Fatally Struck by Grandfather’s Van in Highland Park: LAPD

An 18-month-old girl was fatally struck by her grandfather’s van in Highland Park on Saturday, police said.

lapd-police-tape-file-photoThe collision occurred around 1:50 p.m. in the 3500 block of Marmion Way (map), according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department.

“The detectives’ investigation revealed that the victim’s grandfather was backing his van down his driveway when the vehicle collided with the 18-month-old,” police said in the statement.

The toddler sustained major trauma injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where she later died, according to the LAPD.

The investigation was being handled as an accident, according to the news release.
