About 86 firefighters responded to the business in the 5900 block of Santa Monica Boulevard (map) just after 3:30 a.m., LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey said.

The fire was so strong that part of the store’s roof collapsed, according to officials.

Because the fire was in the front of the building and the attic, most of the jewelry and contents of the store were not burned, authorities said.

It took about 24 minutes for crews to knock down the fire, Humphrey said.

No firefighters were injured.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
