Actor Ralph Waite of ‘The Waltons,’ ‘NCIS’ Dies at 85

NCIS actress Pauley Perrette tweeted her condolences Thursday following reports of the death of co-star Ralph Waite.

Waite, who became a TV legend for his portrayal of the family patriarch on “The Waltons,died Thursday afternoon at his home in South Palm Desert, his family accountant Steve Gordon told CNN.

He was 85.  No other details about his death were released.

Waite starred on “The Waltons” for nine years during the 1970s.

The veteran actor received two Emmy nominations in his career, one in 1977 for “Roots” and the other for his role in “The Waltons.”

More recently the actor played recurring roles as Jackson Gibbs on “NCIS and Hank Booth in “Bones.

He also worked on “Days of Our Lives.”
