The unidentified victim was crossing Riverside Drive, just south of Fletcher Drive (map), about 10 p.m. Thursday when he was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound, according to Felix Padilla of the Los Angeles Police Department. As the 45-year-old man was lying on the pavement, he was struck by a second vehicle and dragged a short distance, Padilla said.

Both drivers left the scene without stopping to identify themselves or rendering aid.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

One of the vehicles is believed to be a black Hyundai or Kia with damage on its left side, according to Padilla. The model and year of the vehicle are unknown.
