Homicide Investigation Underway After Fatal Shooting in Downey

An investigation is underway after a person was shot to death in Downey on Friday and his body was found at a business, authorities said.

Officers responded about 4:12 p.m. to the 9600 block of Lakewood Boulevard (map) after the Downey police dispatch center received several 911 calls reporting gunshots heard, according to a news release. Inside the business, officers found the male victim who had died of apparent gunshot wounds.

Detectives from the police department’s robbery-homicide unit responded to the scene and are investigating the incident.
