SoCal Storm Threatens to Dampen Oscars Arrivals

The red carpet for the 86th Annual Academy Awards was covered in plastic Saturday, to protect the area from the heavy rainfall in Los Angeles, officials said.

An emergency tent was placed over the area, with an additional layer of plastic wrapped around the decorations and lights.

The plastic tent stretched from Hollywood and Highland boulevards to the front of the Dolby Theater.

Oscar officials said they planned to determine on Saturday night whether to take the tent down based on weather forecasts.
