Crews in Glendale have restored power to all 5,480 customers who were affected by an hourslong outage, officials said early Wednesday.

“Power is back up!” Glendale Water & Power said on Twitter at 12:07 a.m. “Thank you to our crews for working so hard and to our customers for their patience.”

The outage had affected 5,480 customers in La Crescenta, Sparr Heights and parts of North Glendale, according to the agency. It was caused by equipment failure at the utility’s Montrose substation, Glendale Water & Power said.

Earlier, police were present, and drivers were urged to drive carefully, on a stretch of Foothill Boulevard where street lights had gone dark.
