The attack occurred around 9 p.m. as the young woman was walking in front of the Hotel Palomar.

The student said she was talking on her cell phone when a man forcibly grabbed her from behind and sexually battered her, according to a news release from the UCLA Police Department.

The man then got into a newer model silver sedan parked on Shelby Avenue and drove off, the release stated.

The student was not injured.

The attacker was described as a Caucasian man between 30 and 40 years old, standing 5 feet 10 inches tall with dirty blond spiked hair.

He was wearing a blue or purple long sleeve dress shirt with vertical stripes and khaki pants, the release stated.

Anyone with information was being asked to call UCLA police at 310-825-1491.
