Gunman Sought in El Monte Shooting That Left 1 Dead, 1 Injured

Homicide detectives were investigating a shooting in El Monte that left a man dead and a woman injured early Saturday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The shooting occurred in the 11300 block of Medina Court (map) around 12:30 a.m., a news release from the Sheriff’s Department stated.

Officers responded to the scene after a call came in regarding a “gunshot victim,” the release said. When they arrived, they discovered that a man seated in the driver’s side of a vehicle had been shot multiple times in the chest.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman seated on the passenger side of the vehicle was rushed to a hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to the release. She was last reported to be in stable condition.

Detectives were trying to figure out who shot into the vehicle.

No description of the shooter was available.
