The shooting occurred at the intersection of North Las Palmas Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard (map) shortly before 2:00 a.m., according to Lt. John Radtke with the Los Angeles Police Department.

A large group of people had just left the club after it closed when a confrontation ensued, Radtke said.

The group was approached by a black four-door sedan, and someone from the vehicle fired shots at them, according to Radtke.

One man was hit in the torso.  He was transported to a local hospital where he later died, Radtke said.

Several people witnessed the event, authorities said.

“People were running, I mean, they didn’t know what happened, they heard a gunshot and everyone got scared,” Joe Saragosa, who worked next door to the incident, said.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

Police were searching for three to four African-American men who were in a black four-door sedan, Radtke said.

No arrests have been made.

The shooting was possibly gang motivated, Radtke said.

Anyone with information was asked to contact the LAPD’s West Bureau homicide detectives at 213-382-9740.
