David Letterman announced Thursday his intention to retire from the Late Show in 2015 when his contract was set to expire.

Letterman’s announcement came just a couple months after competitor Jay Leno left The Tonight Show.

Letterman had been with CBS for 21 years.

Celebrities immediately reacted to the announcement.

“If a late night host hasn’t stolen something from Dave, you’re doing it wrong,” Arsenio Hall of the The Arsenio Hall Show said.

Comments also included a tweet from President Barack Obama.
