Video: Man Sought for Burglarizing La Crescenta Church

Police in Glendale were searching Monday for a burglar who was captured on surveillance video breaking into a a La Crescenta church.

Video released by police showed a man wearing a T-shirt and jeans entering the church property on Lowell Avenue on March 20 and walking around the grounds for more than an hour.

The man attempted to open at least one door unsuccessfully, according to a news release from the Glendale Police Department.

He then pried open the church office door, according to the release.

On the video, the man could be seen holding a white cloth in his hand as he handled items and rummaged through drawers.

He eventually turned the office surveillance camera around in an apparent attempt to hide his actions, the release stated.

It was not known what was taken during the burglary.

Police described the burglar as a heavy set man, between 30 and 40 years old, standing 6 feet tall and weighing 250 to 275 pounds with a bald head.

The church had experienced numerous unreported burglaries and thefts of electronic items in the past, police said.

It was not known if the man suspected in the recent burglary was responsible for the past incidents.
