One of two twin girls traveling to Humboldt State University for a new student weekend event was still unaccounted Friday after a deadly crash on a highway north of Sacramento.

Twin sisters Marisa and Marisol Serrato were among three students from Norte Vista High School in Riverside taking part in the trip, but the two were traveling on different buses.

Marisa was a passenger on the bus that crashed and as of Friday evening her fate was still unknown.

Five students were among 10 killed in the crash. Coroner’s officials were working to try to identify the dead, but said that the fiery nature of the crash was posing a challenge.

“We’re all praying that she’s alive and hopefully we’ll get some news on her today,” neighbor and fellow student Janeth De La Cruz said.

De La Cruz was initially planning on going on the Humboldt trip but decided instead to attend the prom, which was scheduled for Friday night, she said.

“All I can think about is hoping that all my friends are OK,” she said.

Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that the twins were traveling on the same bus and that Marisol had been injured. The post has been updated.
