A burglar alarm sounding at the grocery chain’s location in the 1800 block of Manhattan Beach Boulevard (map) called police to the scene at about 2:20 a.m., according to a news release from the Manhattan Beach Police Department.

Officers found the store’s main glass entryway smashed when they got to the location.

A perimeter around the store was established with the help of neighboring police agencies, according to the release, but no suspected burglars were found.

The burglar or burglars had broken the glass doorway with a hammer and stolen “cash and alcohol,” a preliminary investigation found, according to the release.

The total amount of the loss was not provided by police.
