Oxnard Teacher Arrested on Suspicion of Child Annoyance

An Oxnard teacher was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of misdemeanor child annoyance following a six-month criminal investigation, police said.

Jorge Arellano, 41, was arrested at his home in Oxnard around 4:30 p.m., according to an Oxnard Police Department statement.

The investigation began last October after police received a tip of an alleged misconduct involving an Oxnard High School student, the statement said.

No other details about the alleged crime were released.

Arellano was a teacher with the Oxnard Union High School District at the time the alleged crime occurred, according to the statement.

He was immediately placed on paid administrative leave following the arrest, the Ventura County Star reported.
