An El Monte man was sentenced Wednesday to 50 years to life in state prison for sexually assaulting his girlfriend’s young daughter.

Miguel Angel Lomeli, 43, was convicted on April 4 of two counts of sexual intercourse or sodomy with a child, two counts of oral copulation or sexual penetration with child and one count of forcible lewd act on a child, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutors said the sexual assault occurred between June and November 2012 while Lomeli was living with the girl and her mother.

Lomeli was arrested on Nov. 15, 2012 after authorities were alerted to the molestation, the release stated.

He has remained in custody since his arrest.
