2014 Los Angeles Gun Buyback Event Set for Saturday, May 31

The 2014 Los Angeles Gun Buyback Program event is set to take place on Saturday, May 31, officials announced on Wednesday.

The event allows members of the public to anonymously drop off firearms at four Los Angeles area locations between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Those dropping off handguns, shotguns and rifles may qualify for a $100 Ralph’s gift card. $200 gift cards would be available to those dropping off assault weapons.

The weapons should be unloaded and left in a locked container or stored in a vehicle trunk.

The mayor’s Gang Reduction and Youth Development (GRYD) program and the LAPD are teaming up for the event.

Firearms can be brought to one of the four following locations:
