An abused dog that had been beaten and tortured in Chile arrived at her new home in North Hollywood on Thursday.

Patricio Garcia first learned about the brutal past of the greyhound, now named Aurelia, while he was visiting family in Chile.

Aurelia had been beaten, bound, burned and left to die before she was found by rescuers.

Knowing that Aurelia would need a new home, Garcia set out to adopt her.

The international adoption was completed Thursday, when Aurelia finally arrived at her new home.

Chris Wolfe reports from North Hollywood for the KTLA 5 News at 1 on June 5, 2014.
