Hector Garcia, 18, of Moorpark, allegedly attacked the woman in a restroom stall of the Muvico Theater at 166 Hillcrest Drive (map) on May 23, according to a news release from the Thousand Oaks Police Department.

The 23-year-old victim said she was in the stall when a man slid underneath the partition and sexually battered her.

After a brief struggle, she managed to get out of the stall and her attacker fled the theater, according to police.

Authorities were looking for a man seen on surveillance video getting into the passenger side of a black sedan on the night of the incident.

As a result of media coverage, concerned citizens came forward and identified Garcia as a possible suspect, the Police Department stated in the news release.

Evidence allegedly linking Garcia to the crime was later found by investigators, the Police Department stated.
