About 11:37 p.m., the California Highway Patrol received a report of a traffic collision involving the truck and the car, a Scion tC sports coupe, on the westbound side of the freeway, near the Huntington Drive exit (map), said Officer Chad Guin.

The name of the deceased victim, described as a man in his 20s, was not immediately released.

No other injuries were reported, and “the big rig has since been on its way,” Guin said.

The freeway was shut down for about 30 minutes while investigators took measurements and photographed the scene, Guin said.

News video showed Los Angeles County coroner’s officials removing the deceased man’s body from the location.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
