A man was hospitalized after a collision that resulted in his car crashing through a guardrail and landing upside down in a wash in Mar Vista, according to LAPD.

Two vehicles driving northbound near Palms Boulevard and Sawtelle Boulevard crashed around 6:30 a.m., Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Sandor said.

A BMW sedan subsequently landed in a wash. The 48-year-old passenger suffered potentially severe injuries and was transported to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, Sandor said.

The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

The cause of the crash was under investigation and the BMW was in the process of being towed as of 9 a.m., Sandor said.
