Man Drowns in Lake at Cerritos Park on Father’s Day

A man drowned after jumping into a lake at a park in Cerritos on Father’s Day, authorities said.

The drowning occurred on Sunday shortly before 6:30 p.m. at Cerritos Regional County Park, which is located in the 19000 block of Bloomfield Avenue (map), according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The man was pulled from the lake and rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, a news release from the Sheriff’s Department stated.

His identity has not yet been released.

The area around the lake was cordoned off for a short time as deputies investigated the incident, video from the scene showed.

Deputies said there did not appear to be any evidence of foul play, according to the news release.
