An elderly woman and three of her neighbors were hospitalized Thursday night after being stung by a swarm of bees in Pasadena.

It happened just before 7 p.m.  in the 300 block of Anita Street.

The woman was outside doing some watering in her yard when she was attacked by a swarm of bees, police said.

"She started screaming, she was stung several times," said John Dewar with the Pasadena Police Department.  "Some other neighbors came out to help her."

Three of those neighbors were also stung and were taken to the hospital.

The bees appeared to be gone Thursday night, but officials were still searching the neighborhood looking for evidence of bee activity in hopes of locating the hive.

No information was released on the condition of those who were stung.
