A man was arrested Friday after throwing a raucous party at his parents’ house in North Tustin without permission, authorities said. The bash was attended by dozens of teens and allegedly resulted in the theft of several items.

Orange County sheriff’s deputies, assisted by Tustin police officers, responded early Friday morning to the home in the 12000 block of Shelly Lane (map), in a typically quiet cul-de-sac near South Crawford Canyon Road.

They were pelted with bottles by some of the teens who attended the party, which was given while the homeowners were in Fresno, according to authorities.

News footage showed more than two dozen underage attendees seated along a curb in front of the house, as law-enforcement personnel stood nearby and a police helicopter shined a spotlight from overhead.

Several of the the guests’ parents arrived to pick their children; other teens were seen walking away from the location after being released by deputies.

Meanwhile, the party’s host was taken into custody.

“The parents insisted that he did not live there, that he had been locked out of the house and that they desired arrest and prosecution,” said Lt. Jeff Hallock of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. “The son was detained, eventually arrested for trespassing and transported to jail.”

The homeowners, who declined to be identified by name, said they returned to the house about 5 p.m. and found it in disarray. Multiple items, including cameras and jewelry, were missing, they said.

Authorities were then summoned back to the residence.

“We took a report based on come of the claims that they made, in terms of property and different things missing,” Hallock said. “So thefts and burglary reports were filed.”

The arrested man’s name was not immediately released.

“I’ve lived here 35 years. This has never happened before,” said neighbor Mike Lin. “But this is a good family.”

Correction: An earlier version of this article indicated the house was located in Santa Ana. The story has been updated to reflect the correct location.

You’ve updated this story to state it took place in North Tustin, but unless changes have happened this was originally correct as this area is in unincorporated Santa Ana.
