A 62-year-old West Covina man convicted of killing his wife after his mistress left him was sentenced Tuesday to 25 years to life in state prison,

Tomas Rodriguez Infante was found guilty last month in the first-degree murder of 57-year-old Charito Tolentino, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

At trial, prosecutors claimed Infante was having an affair at the time of the 2013 murder, the release stated.

Infante girlfriend broke up with him when she found out he was married, prompting him to kill his wife, prosecutors said.

A day after the breakup on January 10, Charito Tolentino disappeared after leaving her job as a nurse, according to the D.A.’s office.

Her body was found two days later in the trunk of her car which was found in the parking lot of the Hawaiian Gardens Casino.

She had been stabbed and beaten to death, authorities said.

Surveillance video at the casino, cell phone records, blood evidence at the home as well as the testimony from his own son killed Tolentino, the release stated.

Infante was also ordered to pay restitution to the victim’s sister for funeral costs in the amount of $11,716.43 as well as an additional $5,000 to the Victim Assistance Program.
