A man who allegedly ran onto a preschool campus and brandished a 12-inch kitchen knife at a teacher was taken into custody Friday, Garden Grove police said.

Gonzalo Parra Jr., 30, complied with officers’ commands when confronted at Garden Grove First Pre-School, according to a news release from the Garden Grove Police Department.

Police were called to the preschool at 8461 Garden Grove Blvd. (map) about 8:45 a.m., when witnesses reported that a man had run onto campus with a knife and entered an unoccupied classroom.

When a teacher tried to tell the man to leave, he brandished the knife and closed the classroom door, according to police.

When officers arrived, they found Parra alone in the classroom with a large, 12-inch kitchen knife, according to the news release.

He was arrested without struggle on suspicion of possession of a weapon on school grounds, brandishing a deadly weapon and a parole violation for drug charges.

He was booked into Orange County Jail.

No students were threatened or injured during the incident, police said.
