Police Shoot Armed Man in Boyle Heights: LAPD

An investigation was underway after an armed man was shot by police in Boyle Heights on Wednesday, authorities said.

Officers initially responded to the intersection of Marengo and State streets after receiving a report of a man with a gun shortly before 5:30 p.m., according to Officer Drake Madison with the Los Angeles Police Department.

When they arrived, officers encountered the armed man. At some point, an officer-involved shooting occurred, Madison said.

One witness told KTLA that he heard a total of six gunshots fired.

The man was struck at least once and taken to a local hospital. His condition was not immediately known.
