Man Detained After Girlfriend’s Body Is Found in Monrovia Home’s Backyard

A man was detained Sunday after officials found his girlfriend’s body inside a vehicle in Monrovia, according to a L.A. County Sheriff’s Department news release.

Monrovia police conducted a welfare check on the couple after the man’s family told authorities they were concerned for their welfare.

Police located the man in the backyard of a home in the 200 block of Mauna Loa Drive (map) around 3:49 p.m.

His girlfriend’s body was found inside a vehicle in the backyard.

An earlier LASD news release said the woman had been strangled and the man had since been arrested.

The investigation is ongoing.
