Lake Elsinore Man Faces Animal Cruelty Charge After Allegedly Dragging, Running Over Puppy
A 35-year-old Lake Elsinore man was arrested Monday on suspicion of killing a 3-month-old puppy by intentionally dragging it with his truck and then running it over, authorities said.
Victor Perez-Guzman was booked for cruelty to an animal, according to a news release from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
About 11 p.m. Friday, numerous callers to the department’s dispatch center reported that a dark-colored Nissan pickup truck had dragged the dog to home in the 2900 block of Rolando Road (map) before running it over.
Officers from the Lake Elsinore Police Department were sent to investigate, officials said. The dog was deceased when they arrived at the scene.
The driver’s identity could not be confirmed at the time, and the investigation continued through the weekend.
Perez-Guzman was identified as the suspect after his truck was found about 6 a.m. Monday by Lake Elsinore traffic officers, the Sheriff’s Department said.
