A man was hospitalized after being found with gunshot wounds on a South Los Angeles street Wednesday morning.

A passerby found the man on the ground near East 78th Street and Avalon Boulevard (map) and called police, according to Officer Liliana Preciado of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was undergoing surgery, LAPD media relations stated at about 8 a.m.

A bloody sheet and several evidence markers could be seen in the street as authorities investigated the incident, aerial video from Sky5 showed.

There was no information on a shooter or shooters, but police were searching the area for clues, Preciado said.
