Police in Virginia were searching for the man they believed brutally attacked a pit bull puppy, stabbing it at least 20 times before tossing the dog into a wooded area and leaving it for dead, KTLA sister-station WTVR reported Tuesday.
Amazingly, the puppy survived the assault and was expected to survive.
Officers were called out to the 15200 block of Timsberry Circle on Sept. 14 after receiving a report that a puppy had been stabbed, the television station reported.
“Upon arrival, officers located the dog, a white pit bull puppy, in the tree line near the residence; the dog had been stabbed more than 20 times. Officers immediately transported the dog to an area animal hospital,” a Chesterfield Police spokeswoman said in an email sent to WTVR. “The dog remained in critical condition for several days, but is now expected to survive.”
The puppy was being called “Angel.”
The suspect being sought by police was identified as 27-year-old Paris L. Hill, according to the station, which also stated that he faced animal cruelty charges.
It was not immediately clear whether Hill owned the dog.
