3.2 Earthquake Strikes Off Catalina Island

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.2 struck in the ocean near Catalina Island on Wednesday night.

The quake hit at 10:12 p.m. and was centered 12 miles south of Avalon and about 38 miles west of Newport Beach, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
