Man Wounded After Being Shot by Deputy in East Los Angeles: Sheriff’s Dept.

An investigation was underway Wednesday after a deputy shot and wounded a man in East L.A., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The incident occurred in the 5000 block of Olympic Boulevard (map) shortly before 1 a.m., a news release from the Sheriff’s Department stated.

The man was rushed to a local hospital after being injured. His condition was not known.

It was not immediately clear why the deputy opened fire on the man. No other details about the shooting were released.

A second person ran from the scene, and deputies have established a containment area and were searching for him, authorities said.
