Authorities worked Monday to identify a man who was struck by an SUV while running in and out of lanes on the 5 Freeway in Valencia, California Highway Patrol officials said.

Reports of a man running on the northbound side of the freeway near Rye Canyon Road were made around 11:50 p.m. Sunday, CHP Officer Pennington said.

A man driving a Nissan Rogue SUV then struck the pedestrian, pulled into the truck-scales area about 50 yards away and reported the incident to officials.

The pedestrian was described as possibly being of Asian decent, 30 to 40 years old, wearing a blue button-up shirt and brown-Dickies pants.

He did not have an identification card and it was not immediately known who he was.
