A construction worker fell eight stories from a San Francisco building, struck a car, bounced off and landed on the ground, injured but alive, a fire official told the Los Angeles Times.

The accident happened at 10:03 a.m. in the city’s Financial District, said spokeswoman Laura Gibbons of the San Francisco Fire Department.

The worker’s condition was not immediately known, but he was conscious after the fall.

Maa-Becca Tucker was walking past the crash when she saw the worker lying on the ground. She said he wasn’t moving.
